Isabelline Wheatear

Oenanthe isabellina

The Isabelline Wheatear is a small, insectivorous bird found in open, arid habitats across its range. It has a pale sandy-brown plumage, with a distinctive white rump and black wings. This species is known for its habit of perching on prominent rocks or posts while hunting for insects. Isabelline Wheatears breed in dry, stony areas and migrate to sub-Saharan Africa for the winter. They are known for their agile, ground-dwelling foraging behavior, often seen flicking their wings and tails. Despite being widespread, the Isabelline Wheatear faces threats from habitat loss and degradation in some parts of its range.
