Jabiru

Jabiru mycteria

The Jabiru is a large stork found in the Americas, particularly in wetland habitats such as marshes, swamps, and rivers. It is known for its impressive size, standing up to 5 feet tall with a wingspan of over 8 feet. The Jabiru has a distinct appearance with a black neck and head, a white body, and a large, sturdy bill. These birds are skilled hunters, feeding on fish, amphibians, and small reptiles. Despite their large size, Jabirus are graceful flyers, often soaring high in the sky. They are considered a symbol of wetland conservation and are revered in many indigenous cultures.
