Lesser Hoopoe-Lark

Alaemon hamertoni Witherby, 1905

Lesser Hoopoe-Lark, Alaemon hamertoni, is a lark in the family Alaudidae that breeds in northern and eastern Somalia. It is found in subtropical or tropical dry lowland grassland, and it is endemic to Somalia. The species has also been called Witherby’s lark. Three subspecies are recognised: A. h. alter in northern and north-eastern Somalia, A. h. tertius in north-western Somalia, and A. h. hamertoni in central Somalia.
