Colibri cyanotus (Bourcier, 1843)
Lesser Violetear, Colibri cyanotus, is a hummingbird that breeds in Middle America and South America from Costa Rica to Bolivia. It is placed in the family Trochilidae and was described by Bourcier in 1843. This species is found in forested country, especially in the canopy and along the edges of subtropical and lower temperate woodland, as well as in secondary growth, scrub, clearings and gardens. It is a medium-sized hummingbird with a black bill that is mostly straight, and it shows a glittering violet patch on the sides of the neck.
