Lineated Barbet

Psilopogon lineatus

The Lineated Barbet is a medium-sized bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive appearance with a black head, white streaks on the face, and a yellow throat. The body is mainly green with black and white streaks on the back and wings. This species is known for its loud, repetitive calls that echo through the forest. Lineated Barbets feed on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates. They nest in tree cavities and are often seen in pairs or small groups. Their populations are currently stable, but habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to their long-term survival.
