Little Cormorant

Microcarbo niger

The Little Cormorant is a small, slender water bird with a glossy black plumage and a long, slender bill. It is commonly found in freshwater wetlands, rivers, lakes, and coastal areas across South and Southeast Asia. This species is known for its remarkable diving abilities, using its webbed feet to propel itself underwater in search of fish and aquatic invertebrates. Little Cormorants often nest in colonies, building their nests in trees near water bodies. They are highly adaptable and can be found in both natural and human-altered habitats. Although not globally threatened, habitat loss and pollution pose potential threats to their populations.
