The Maroon-tailed Parakeet (Pyrrhura hoematotis) is a medium-sized parrot native to the Andean cloud forests of South America. It has a predominantly green plumage with a maroon-colored tail, and a distinct red patch on the shoulder. These parakeets are social birds, often seen in small flocks, and are known for their playful and inquisitive nature. They feed on a variety of fruits, seeds, and vegetation, and are important seed dispersers in their habitat. Due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, the Maroon-tailed Parakeet is considered vulnerable to extinction.
