Melodious Blackbird, Dives dives, is a passerine of the Icteridae family that breeds in Middle America from Mexico to Nicaragua. It is a year-round resident across semi-open and open country in tropical and lower subtropical zones, including forest edges and clearings, pine woodland, gallery forest, coffee plantations, pastures, parks, gardens and settled areas with scattered trees. Adults are entirely black with blue and purple sheen, and the species has a long tail plus notably large legs and feet. Both sexes sing, often together, and the bird is known for foraging on the ground and in trees.
