An eight-day autumn birding journey along Lithuania’s East Baltic Flyway, from Ventė Cape and the Curonian Spit to crane gatherings and Biržai Forest.
About this tour
Follow the autumn migration through some of Lithuania’s most important birding landscapes with Alcedo Wildlife and Boris Belchev.
The journey begins at Ventė Cape, where the ringing station and its Heligoland trap sit beside a major East Baltic Flyway bottleneck. It continues across Nemunas Delta and the Curonian Spit, where passerines, raptors, waterbirds and seabirds move along the Baltic coast.
Later stages connect Kurtuvėnai Regional Park, Tyruliai Bog and Biržai Forest, adding crane gatherings, forest birding and the sounds of the Red Deer rut to the migration experience.
The route may be adjusted for weather, bird activity and migration timing so field time can focus on the strongest opportunities.

Explore migration habitats around the delta and the Ventė bird ringing station.
Day 3
Lagoon coast to the Curonian Spit
Bird the Curonian Lagoon coast before crossing to the Curonian Spit.
Day 4
Curonian Spit migration corridor
Search Baltic coast, forest and dune habitats for migrating passerines, raptors and waterbirds.
Day 5
Curonian Spit field day
Continue birding the strongest sites according to weather and migration activity.
Day 6
Kurtuvėnai and Tyruliai Bog to Biržai
Travel through central Lithuania for crane gatherings and Red Deer rut calls, then continue to Biržai Forest.
Day 7
Biržai Regional Park and forest
Spend the day birding the countryside and forest around Biržai.
Day 8
Departure
Conclude the tour and depart after the final overnight.
