Common Crane

Grus grus

The Common Crane is a large, long-legged bird with a wingspan of over 2 meters. It has a gray body, black and white neck, and a red crown. These migratory birds breed in northern Europe and Asia, and winter in southern Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia. They are known for their loud, trumpeting calls and impressive aerial displays during courtship. Common Cranes are typically found in wetlands, marshes, and grasslands, and they feed on a variety of plant matter, insects, and small vertebrates.
