About this tour
This April outing is built around the best chance of seeing Black Grouse near Helsinki. Samuel meets guests in downtown Helsinki and drives to several rural birding locations during the productive early morning period.
Because Black Grouse activity depends strongly on dawn, the departure is intentionally early: roughly 45 minutes before sunrise, with exact timing confirmed for the chosen date.
The tour combines local field knowledge, private guiding and spring migration birding, with possible Common Crane, Northern Pintail, Greater White-fronted Goose and Common Curlew in addition to Black Grouse.

Do I need previous birding experience?
No. Samuel adapts the outing for experienced birders, beginners, nature lovers and families.
Are dates fixed?
No. These are private outings by request. Send preferred dates and group size through BirdWatch.info so availability can be confirmed.
What should I bring?
Bring binoculars if you have them, comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate layers, water, snacks and mosquito repellent when needed. Samuel can usually lend an extra pair of binoculars.
Does Samuel use playback or baiting?
No. Samuel publicly states that he does not use playback to attract birds, and the photo workshop also avoids playback and baiting.
Can photos and image order be changed?
Yes. The current photos are review selections from Samuel’s public tour pages and can be approved, reordered, replaced or removed.
