About this tour
Autumn in Hungary brings major movements of birds from northern Europe, with wetlands holding large numbers of migrating and wintering geese, cranes and ducks.
This route combines Kiskunsag National Park, Lake Tisza, northern Hungarian mountain habitats, Apaj, Boddi-szek, Kelemen-szek and Pusztaszer Nature Protection Area.
It is designed for birders interested in Red-breasted Goose, Lesser White-fronted Goose, Common Crane, raptors, Great Bustard, Wallcreeper, Alpine Accentor, Great Grey Shrike and Snow Bunting.

Airport pickup, transfer to accommodation around Kecskemet and, if time allows, first birding around Tiszaalpar wetland habitat.
Visit Lake Tisza for wintering and migrating geese and ducks, then continue to northern Hungarian mountain habitat for woodpeckers, Alpine Accentor and Wallcreeper.
Explore Kelemen-szek, Boddi-szek and Apaj-area open steppe, sodic lakes and fishponds for Great Bustard, raptors and migration activity.
Bird Pusztaszer Nature Protection Area, fishponds, sodic lakes and grasslands in southern Kiskunsag.
Check out and return to the airport, with optional final birding if flight timing allows.
