Manus Boobook

Manus Boobook, Ninox meeki, is an owl of Manus and Los Negros in the Admiralty Islands. It is found mainly in forest, and also turns up in trees close to people and in river-edge habitat. It is one of two owl species on Manus Island. It can be recognised by its plain brown facial disc, rufous crown and back, white barred flight feathers and tail, and pale underparts marked with rufous streaks. Its call is a repeated growling note that sounds frog-like.
