Twitching Lithuania 9-Day Birding Tour
A nine-day Lithuania birding circuit targeting around 200 species across Nemunas Delta, the Curonian Spit and the country’s northern and eastern wetlands and forests.
About this tour
This Alcedo Wildlife itinerary is designed for birders building a Lithuanian list and looking for the country’s scarce breeding and migratory species.
The route starts in the Nemunas Delta, where wetlands, meadows and the Curonian Lagoon support Aquatic Warbler, Great Snipe, eagles, terns and many other specialities. It then crosses the Curonian Spit for seabirds, forest birds and dune species.
The second half explores central and north-eastern Lithuania, including Biržai, Gražutė Regional Park and Birvėta fish ponds, adding forest, lake, bog and open-country habitats.
Daily plans may be adjusted for weather and current bird activity to improve the chances of finding target species.

Continue target-focused birding in the most productive delta habitats.
Day 4
Nemunas Delta and Curonian Lagoon to the Spit
Bird the lagoon by small ship and transfer to the Curonian Spit.
Day 5
Curonian Spit
Search coast, ancient forest and dunes for seabirds and local specialities.
Day 6
Curonian Spit to central Lithuania and Biržai
Cross central Lithuania and continue to the Biržai region.
Day 7
Biržai and Gražutė Regional Park
Bird forests, lakes and surrounding countryside in northern and eastern Lithuania.
Day 8
Birvėta fish ponds
Spend the day around fish ponds and adjoining wetlands.
Day 9
Departure
Conclude the circuit and depart.
