Mountain Chickadee, Poecile gambeli, is a passerine in the tit family that breeds in western North America and north-west Mexico. It is a mountain bird of the western United States and Canada, with a range that runs from the southern Yukon to California and the Rocky Mountain states. It is set apart from other North American chickadees by the white line running through the side of its black cap. Adults of both sexes show a black cap, white eyebrows, grey upperparts and flanks, paler grey underparts, a short black bill and a black bib.
