Private Alta Alpine Birding with FeatherQuest
Visit Alta for private high-elevation birding among snowy feeder areas, summer meadows and classic Wasatch mountain scenery, with a pace tailored to your group.
About this tour
Leave the Utah Valley floor for a private birding outing in the high Wasatch at Alta. The route offers an accessible introduction to mountain birdlife, framed by steep canyon slopes and an alpine setting that feels distinct from lower-elevation stops.
Late winter and early spring can bring rosy-finches to feeder areas, alongside other western mountain birds. In summer, the finches move higher, while nearby meadows and slopes provide a different seasonal experience with wildflowers and hummingbird activity. All sightings remain dependent on weather, bird movement and current conditions.
The outing is designed to make high-elevation birding approachable without requiring a long hike. Time can be divided between the feeder zone, relaxed observation and short walks, with the pace adjusted for families, photographers, visiting birders and mixed-experience groups.
FeatherQuest offers three private formats. The Experience focuses on Alta as one primary habitat. The Adventure adds a second habitat during a half-day outing. The full-day Quest typically combines two half-day Adventures, covering four locations or habitat types across the day. Each private rate includes up to four guests, with options for solo travelers and slightly larger groups by prior arrangement.
