The Mountain Velvetbreast (Coeligena orina) is a species of hummingbird found in the Andes of South America. It is known for its striking iridescent green and blue plumage, with a contrasting white belly. This medium-sized hummingbird is often found in high-altitude cloud forests and montane shrublands, where it feeds on nectar from a variety of flowering plants. The Mountain Velvetbreast is an important pollinator in its ecosystem and plays a key role in maintaining the biodiversity of the Andean cloud forests. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and climate change, its population status is currently considered stable.
