Noisy Pitta, Pitta versicolor, is a bird of forested country in eastern Australia and southern New Guinea, breeding in Australasia from south-eastern New Guinea and northern, eastern Australia. It belongs to the Pittidae family and was described by Swainson in 1825. It is a shy forest-floor bird that is more often heard than seen, with a call that is repeated and made up of three rising notes. It feeds among leaf litter and cracks snails on hard surfaces. Its breeding range runs from the Torres Strait and Cape York south to the New South Wales and Victoria border.
