Nordmann's Greenshank

Tringa guttifer (Nordmann, 1835)

Nordmann's Greenshank, Tringa guttifer, breeds in the coastal larch forests of eastern Russia and Sakhalin, along the south-western and northern shores of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Tatar Strait. Outside the breeding season it uses coastal mudflats and saltpans in tropical south-east Asia, including Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and south-west Borneo. It is a wader in the sandpiper family, and its nesting sites are linked to partly dried bogland with larch trees, where nests may be placed in branches or at the base of saplings and mature trees.
