Orange-fronted Barbet, Capito squamatus, is a New World barbet of the family Capitonidae that breeds in south-west Colombia and western Ecuador. It was described by Salvin in 1876. In its range it occurs in wet lowland and hill forest, including primary and secondary woodland, forest edges, and more open country with trees such as farms, orchards and pastures. It is found from sea level to 800 m, and in some places up to 1,500 m. The species is monotypic, and it is considered a sister species to the Spot-crowned Barbet.
