Oriental Plover, Anarhynchus veredus, is a plover of inland temperate eastern Asia, breeding in southern Tuva and southern Transbaikalia, Mongolia apart from the far west and south, and western Inner Mongolia. It spends the non-breeding season from Java and the Lesser Sundas through southern New Guinea to north-western and north-central Australia. A ground-nesting bird of dry steppe, desert, arid grassland and saltpans, it is also found in grassland, salt-fields and coastal areas away from breeding. It was described by Gould in 1848.
