Pacific Golden Plover

Pluvialis fulva

The Pacific Golden Plover, also known as Pluvialis fulva, is a migratory shorebird that breeds in the Arctic tundra and winters in the Pacific Islands, Australia, and Southeast Asia. During the non-breeding season, it can be found in a variety of habitats including coastal mudflats, grasslands, and agricultural fields. This medium-sized plover has a distinctive black and white breeding plumage, with a golden-spangled back and wings. In non-breeding plumage, it is more subdued with gray-brown upperparts and white underparts. The Pacific Golden Plover is known for its long migratory flights and is a common sight in its wintering grounds. It is currently listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.
