Palm Tanager, Thraupis palmarum, is a passerine of Middle America and South America, breeding from Nicaragua to Paraguay and southern Brazil, with its range also reaching north-east Argentina. It is a resident bird of semi-open country, including cultivated land and gardens. The species is a tanager and ally in the family Thraupidae. It is known for its broad distribution across the region and for nesting in trees, often palms, and sometimes beneath house eaves. The bird was described by Wied-Neuwied in 1821.
