About this tour

Climb from Minca into the mid-elevation forests around El Campano, where coffee-country slopes and feeder stations create excellent opportunities for Sierra Nevada endemics, hummingbirds and mixed flocks. This is a focused route for intermediate birders, photographers and anyone ready to move beyond the most familiar lowland species.

The outing starts early for the most active hours, combines feeder watching with roadside and trail birding, and includes breakfast at a panoramic viewpoint. Four-wheel-drive transport is used for the mostly unpaved access road, while the walking itself is generally easy.

Easy trails and unpaved mountain roads Approximately 1,400 m
Leave Minca early and reach the first feeder station for the peak morning activity. Continue to a scenic breakfast stop, then bird slowly along the El Campano return route for endemic birds, hummingbirds, tanagers and raptors before returning to Minca around midday.
