Santa Marta Woodstar

Chaetocercus astreans

The Santa Marta Woodstar is a small hummingbird species found in the Santa Marta Mountains of Colombia. It is known for its striking iridescent plumage, with the male sporting vibrant green and blue colors on its head and throat, and the female having a more subdued green and white plumage. These birds are typically found in montane forests and forest edges, where they feed on nectar from flowers and small insects. Due to their restricted range and habitat loss, the Santa Marta Woodstar is considered vulnerable to extinction.
