Santa Marta Woodstar, Chaetocercus astreans, is a hummingbird that breeds in north-eastern Colombia, where it is confined to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. It lives along the margins of montane forest, in semi-open woodland and coffee plantations, and it also turns up in the lower páramo. The species is a small member of the family Trochilidae and has a straight black bill. The male shows a green head, dark blue upperparts and a reddish throat patch, while the female is bronzy green above and cinnamon-rufous below.
