Pampas Meadowlark, Leistes defilippii, is a passerine of the Icteridae family that breeds in south-eastern Argentina. It was first described by Bonaparte in 1850. The bird is tied to native grasslands and pastures, with only occasional use of cultivated land, especially fields left unused for several years. Its Argentine breeding area lies where Buenos Aires, La Pampa and Río Negro meet, and it has older records from other provinces. A former population in Rio Grande do Sul no longer survives. It is also known from Uruguay, where it occurs in two separate localities.
