Pied Bush Chat, Saxicola caprata, is a passerine of the Muscicapidae that breeds from north-east Iran through south-east Asia to New Guinea and the Bismarck Archipelago. It is a bird of open countryside, scrub and grassland, and is often seen on the tops of low thorn trees or other shrubs. The male is black with white patches on the shoulder and vent, though these vary between populations. Females are mainly brownish, and young birds are speckled. It nests in cavities in stone walls or embankments, with a lining of grass and animal hair.
