Pink-headed Fruit Dove, Ptilinopus porphyreus, is a pigeon in the Columbidae family that breeds in montane Sumatra, Java and Bali in the Oriental Region. It was described by Temminck in 1822. It is a resident of mountain forest in Indonesia and is best recognised by the male’s pinkish-purple head, neck and throat, set off by a pale band edged dark below. The female is less vivid, and the young are duller still. It is a shy bird, usually seen alone or in pairs, and feeds in the upper canopy on figs, small fruit and berries.
