Purple-throated Cotinga, Porphyrolaema porphyrolaema, is a bird of the cotinga family in western and south-central Amazonia in South America. It occurs in the canopy and at the edges of humid forest across its range. The male is marked by black upperparts, a white wingstripe, white-edged tertials, a white belly with some black barring, and a deep purple throat. Females are dark brown above, with buffy cinnamon underparts, black barring, and a rufous throat. The species was described by Deville and Sclater in 1852.
