Apaloderma aequatoriale
The Red-and-yellow Barbet is a medium-sized bird found in the dense forests of equatorial West Africa. It has a distinctive red head, yellow throat, and greenish back, with a black bill. This species is known for its loud, repetitive call that echoes through the forest canopy. Red-and-yellow Barbets are frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits and occasionally insects. They are often seen in pairs or small groups, and are known for their acrobatic movements as they forage for food in the treetops. Despite their striking appearance, they can be quite elusive due to their preference for dense vegetation.
