Red-billed Teal is a dabbling duck in the family Anatidae. It breeds across Africa from southern Sudan and Ethiopia to South Africa, and is an abundant resident in southern and eastern parts of the continent. It does not migrate, although it can travel long distances to reach suitable water. Outside the breeding season it gathers in large flocks. The species was first described in 1789 and has no recognised subspecies. Its scientific name is Anas erythrorhyncha.
