Ceratopipra mentalis
The Red-capped Manakin is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. Males have striking red caps and black plumage, while females have olive-green upperparts and yellowish underparts. They are known for their elaborate courtship displays, where males perform acrobatic dances to attract females. These birds feed on fruits, insects, and small arthropods. They prefer dense, humid forests with a dense understory, where they can find suitable perches for their displays. The Red-capped Manakin is not globally threatened and is considered to be of Least Concern by the IUCN.
