Red-crowned Parrot

Amazona viridigenalis

The Red-crowned Parrot is a medium-sized parrot native to northeastern Mexico. It has a predominantly green plumage with a red forehead and crown, and blue and red feathers on the wings. These social birds are known for their loud, raucous calls and their strong flocking behavior. They are often found in urban and suburban areas, where they feed on fruits, seeds, and flowers. Their populations have declined due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, leading to their classification as endangered by the IUCN.
