Psilopogon mystacophanos (Temminck, 1824)

Red-throated Barbet, Psilopogon mystacophanos, is a bird of the Oriental Region, breeding in the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo. It belongs to the Megalaimidae, the Asian barbets. In this range it occurs in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand, where it uses moist lowland forest and swamps. The male is mostly green, with a red crown and throat, a red mark below the throat, a black spot above each eye, a yellow crown patch, and some blue around the eyes and on the lower throat. Females lack most of the facial colouring, and juveniles are like females.
