Red-wattled lapwing

The red-wattled lapwing is a medium-sized bird found in South Asia and Southeast Asia. It is known for its distinctive loud call that sounds like 'did he do it'. This ground-dwelling bird has a brown back, white belly, and a red fleshy wattle above the bill. It forages for insects and small invertebrates in open grasslands, wetlands, and agricultural fields. The red-wattled lapwing is known for its bold and noisy behavior, often seen running around with its distinctive long legs and making loud alarm calls when disturbed. It is a common and widespread species, often found in human-altered landscapes.
