Ridgway's Hawk, Buteo ridgwayi, breeds on Hispaniola in North America and is a bird of prey in the Accipitridae family. It is tied to the island of Hispaniola, including Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and was named for the ornithologist Robert Ridgway. The species is classed as Critically Endangered. Its decline has been linked to forest loss and persecution in the Dominican Republic, though conservation work has helped numbers rise. It was described by Cory in 1883.
