Ring Ouzel, Turdus torquatus, is a thrush of the Palearctic, breeding in western and south-western parts of the region and wintering in northern Africa. It is a bird of open mountain country, usually found where trees or shrubs are scattered through the uplands. Its breeding sites often include juniper, other conifers near the treeline, rowan, bilberry, heather and hairy alpenrose. The species was described by Linnaeus in 1758. It belongs to the thrush family Turdidae and the order Passeriformes.
