This three-day private tour concentrates on the mountain forests and wetlands of Šumava National Park, Czechia’s largest protected area. The extra time allows repeated, carefully timed searches across different habitats rather than compressing difficult forest targets into a single excursion.
Western Capercaillie, Black Grouse, Hazel Grouse, Eurasian Three-toed Woodpecker and Ural Owl form the principal target set. Ring Ouzel, Eurasian Pygmy Owl and Corn Crake are additional possibilities whose relevance changes with season and current conditions. The itinerary is designed to improve opportunities, but disturbance is kept low and no sighting is assured.
Departures are available from February through November for one to three guests. Day one begins with an early pickup in Prague, and the final day returns to Prague in the late afternoon. The quoted total depends on party size and accommodation choice; food is not included. Exact lodging, daily site order and field logistics are confirmed with the final proposal.

Leave Prague early and travel to Šumava National Park. Begin with target-birding sessions in accessible mountain forest or wetland habitat selected for the season, recent activity and weather.
Use a complete field day for careful searches at the most suitable forest and wetland sites. The sequence remains flexible so priority species can be approached with minimal disturbance under current conditions.
Continue focused birding during the productive part of the final day, revisiting or changing habitat as evidence suggests. Depart Šumava in time for the confirmed late-afternoon return to Prague.
