Rock Wren

Salpinctes obsoletus

The Rock Wren (Salpinctes obsoletus) is a small, insectivorous bird found in rocky habitats across western North America. It is characterized by its distinctive white and black streaked plumage, short tail, and upright posture. Rock Wrens are known for their melodious and complex songs, which they use to communicate and defend their territories. They are adept climbers and can often be seen foraging for insects and spiders among the crevices and boulders of their rocky habitats. These birds are well-adapted to arid environments and are often found in canyons, cliffs, and rocky outcrops.
