Rose-crowned Fruit Dove

Ptilinopus roseicapilla

The Rose-crowned Fruit Dove, also known as the Pink-capped Fruit Dove, is a small, colorful bird found in the rainforests and wooded areas of northern and eastern Australia, as well as in parts of Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. This species is known for its striking plumage, with a pink crown, green back, and purple chest. It has a distinctive cooing call and feeds primarily on fruits and berries. The Rose-crowned Fruit Dove plays an important role in seed dispersal within its habitat. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and hunting in some areas, it is still relatively widespread and not currently considered at risk of extinction.
