Ross's Goose

Anser rossii

The Ross's Goose is a small, compact goose with a distinctive round head and short, stubby bill. It has a white plumage with black primary feathers, and a pink bill with a pale base. This species breeds in the Arctic and winters in the southern United States and northern Mexico. It is often found in mixed flocks with Snow Geese. The Ross's Goose primarily feeds on grasses, sedges, and grains. Its population has been increasing, likely due to the expansion of agricultural areas providing more feeding opportunities.
