Rufous-breasted Spinetail, Synallaxis erythrothorax, is a passerine in the Furnariidae and breeds in Middle America, from Mexico through Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. It was described by Sclater in 1855. It is a resident bird with a disjunct range, and lives in thickly vegetated places such as forest edges, secondary woodland, scrub, brushy openings and swampy ground. The species is split into two subspecies in the treatment followed here, with one form mainly on the Caribbean side and the other on the Pacific side.
