Rufous-crested Coquette, Lophornis delattrei, is a hummingbird that breeds in Middle America and in southern and western Amazonia. It is found in humid forest settings, especially where there are clearings, openings and roadsides, and it also occurs on the Pacific and Caribbean slopes of several countries in South America and Central America. The male is set apart by a rufous crest with stiff, black-tipped feathers. The female lacks a crest and shows a rufous forehead instead. It is a rare bird, and its populations appear stable.
