Rüppell's Warbler, Curruca ruppeli, is a passerine of the Sylviidae family that breeds in southern Greece, Crete, Turkey and Syria, and spends the non-breeding season in north-east Africa. It is a dry-country bird of rocky slopes, scrub, maquis, open bushy woodland and other warm Mediterranean habitats, and it also turns up in gardens, canebrakes and hedgerows outside the breeding season. The species is a monotypic warbler. Adult males have a black head and usually a black throat, divided by a white moustache-like streak, while females show a pale throat and a grey head.
