About this tour

Explore southern Cyprus during early spring migration on an eight-day birding tour led by Western Isles Wildlife. The group is based at a seafront hotel in Paphos and visits a varied network of coastal headlands, salt lakes, temporary pools, reedbeds and open agricultural country.

Wetland days may include Akrotiri, Larnaca and the Phassouri area, where flamingos, herons, waders and marsh birds use seasonal feeding habitat. Open fields around Mandria can hold wheatears, pipits, Black Francolin and passing raptors. Coastal scrub and headlands become important stopovers for warblers, flycatchers, shrikes and other migrants, with Paphos headland offering particularly accessible birding close to the hotel.

Potential highlights include Cyprus Wheatear, Cyprus Warbler, Cyprus Scops Owl, Black Francolin, Ruppell’s Warbler, Masked Shrike, Little Crake, Pallid Harrier and Bonelli’s Eagle. The program also allows time for orchids and other spring flora, but birding remains the primary focus. Daily choices respond to weather and migration conditions, and no particular species is guaranteed.

The fixed 2027 departure runs from 24 to 31 March. The price is GBP 1,700 per person for two sharing or GBP 1,850 for single occupancy, excluding flights. Seven nights of accommodation, all meals and transport throughout the tour are included. The maximum group size is seven, and guests meet at Paphos airport on the arrival afternoon.
