Cretzschmar's Bunting

Emberiza caesia

Cretzschmar's Bunting (Emberiza caesia) is a small passerine bird found in southern Europe and western Asia. The male has a striking blue head and throat, with a chestnut breast and white belly, while the female is more subdued with a brownish-grey plumage. This species is known for its distinctive song, often heard in open woodland and scrubland habitats. Cretzschmar's Buntings are primarily insectivorous, foraging on the ground for insects and seeds. They are known for their acrobatic flight displays during the breeding season, where males perform aerial displays to attract females.
