Russet Nightingale-Thrush, Catharus occidentalis, is a thrush of the family Turdidae that breeds in Mexico. It was first named in 1859 by Sclater. The species is found in montane evergreen, pine-oak and oak woodland in subtropical and lower temperate areas, from 1,500 to 3,700 m. It is mainly a resident bird, though some seasonal or height-related movements have been noted. The sexes look alike, and the bird has a deep russet crown and nape, with olive-brown upperparts and pale underparts.
