Rusty-collared Seedeater, Sporophila collaris, is a bird of south-central and south-eastern South America in the family Thraupidae. Its breeding range covers Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. It occurs in seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland, swamps, and heavily altered former forest. The species was first named by Boddaert in 1783. Three subspecies are recognised: ochrascen from Bolivia to south-central Brazil, collaris in east Brazil, and melanocephala in southwest Brazil, Paraguay and north Argentina, with also southeast Brazil and Uruguay.
