Sapayoa aenigma
The Sapayoa, also known as the Broad-billed Sapayoa, is a small, insectivorous bird found in the lowland rainforests of Colombia, Ecuador, and Panama. It is known for its unique vocalizations and distinctively broad bill, which it uses to catch insects in the dense understory. The Sapayoa is often observed in mixed-species flocks, foraging actively in the mid to lower levels of the forest. Despite its striking appearance and behavior, the Sapayoa remains a mysterious and little-studied species, adding to its enigmatic allure for birdwatchers and researchers alike.
