Grallaricula loricata (Sclater, PL, 1857)

Scallop-breasted Antpitta, Grallaricula loricata, is a bird of northern Venezuela in the family Grallariidae. It is found only in that country, with much of its range in the Venezuelan Coastal Range from Carabobo east to the Capital District, and a smaller area in the Sierra de Aroa in Yaracuy. It lives in the understorey of humid montane cloudforest, and also occurs less often in nearby secondary forest. It is a resident species. Its breast shows a strong scalloped pattern, and the sexes have the same plumage.
